SoundCloud tips: how to make the most of it and get many followers and listeners

SoundCloud is really a great platform to connect with other musicians, discover new tracks, but more than anything else to increase the visibility of your profile or the band you are playing with. 

How can I increase the number of followers, listeners and comments on my tracks?

Like most of the available digital tools, you would need to put some effort in order to attract visibility to your music, given the high volume of artists joining the website every day.

One approach is to use SoundCloud as a listening and discovering tool yourself: find out new music close to your taste, follow the bands and artists, post comments on the tracks you love, and repost them on your page.

In this way, you will gradually and naturally build a network of fellow musicians, that will likely listen to your tracks, post comments and repost your songs on their page. And if you put your website or Spotify-iTunes link, they might click on it and follow you on Spotify or other paid platforms, thus generating some income for you.

A great way to get quick exposure: Groups

In addition to the above, an effective and high-impact strategy is to leverage SoundCloud Groups. 

First, search for groups in the search-bar, by typing in the type of music most close to your tracks. For example, if you compose instrumental guitar tracks, search for "instrumental guitar", "acoustic guitar", "guitar", etc.

You will get a list of Groups, and most of them will allow you to join them straight away.

Once you have joined them, you can post your tracks!

It's quite straightforward, there is a submission button at the top of the Group page that lets select you one of your tracks.

I suggest you to post tracks that are "fresh" (recently uploaded to SoundCloud), not pieces uploaded 1 year ago (near every song there is an indication of the age of the upload).

Also, the best strategy is to post track during the weekend, like on Saturday or Sunday morning-midday. 

In fact, most of SoundCloud users will be online and active during the weekend.

You will soon start to see listens and hopefully likes and comments on your tracks. Don't do a mass posting of all the songs on all the groups together, but try do leave some days or weeks between one song and the other, otherwise you will look like you are spamming the groups.

Pair this approach with the first suggestion (being an active member who discovers, listens and likes other artists' music), and you will soon see your popularity on SoundCloud increasing day by day, and drive traffic on other resources, like your website or your Spotify page (below my latest album on Spotify).
